Ann Musché and I both photographed this Cedar Hairstreak, on a long, hot hike through brushy hills rich in the junipers on which the caterpillars of Callophrys/Mitoura gryneus nr chalcosiva feed. Why the long name? Scientists study species variations in great detail.
